Onan Microquiet leak

A few months ago we had a problem with our gen running and dying. Had it checked and they replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter. The latter screws into the top of the fuel pump. The fuel pump did solve the problem.

I recently found that it is leaking and it appears to be leaking gas at the fuel filter to fuel pump connection. In the event that tightening it doesn't solve the problem can I use teflon tape or pipe dope or none of the above?

Also, I assume that when I disconnect the fuel line from the filter it will leak gas. What is the best way to stop that?

I would take it back to the repair guy but we are many miles away and won't be back soon, if ever.

Dear Jim,

I wouldn't drive a vehicle that is leaking gas for fear of fire, especially an RV full of propane.  Plug it up temporarily and any mechanic can likely fix/repair it properly.  You shouldn't have to return to the original place you had it repaired.
