Making skirting for my LD... Maybe... October 13, 2014, 08:11:35 am Yahoo Message Number: 148981Hi all I like the idea of skirting for cold weather camping, and have been looking around for ideas and prices. I'm considering making my own, and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. One thing in particular - I don't like the idea of glue on fasteners, so could I remove the occasional screw around the bottom and replace it with those screw-on snaps? Also, the Pearl came with a cover, which was ripped in last winter's heavy snow. I was just going to pitch it, but then I thought perhaps I could use the material to make the skirting. I'm a decent seamstress, and have a heavy duty sewing machine.Any thoughts?Pat

LD has used snaps and twist eyelets for decades to secure the windshield cover. The heaviest of plastic tarps can be sewn on a homel machine. The snaps or twist eyelets are easy to install using a hammer for the tarp and a drill for mounting the snaps to the LD.Marine snaps http://www.amazon.com/47-Piece-Canvas-Fastener-Kit/dp/B007PKCZJW/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1413215232&sr=8-3&keywords=marine+snap+fasteners Marine twist eyelets http://www.amazon.com/Marine-Twist-Eyelet-Prong-Washer/dp/B0054EFAQ6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1413215310&sr=8-1&keywords=marine+twist+fastenersMake the skirts long enough to stack rock or dirt along the edges to cut the flow of air under your LD.Dreading the thought of winter...not really, it's the West's second travel seasonLarry As an Amazon Associate Lazy Daze Owners' Group earns from qualifying purchases.

I fixed up a dog bed using snaps - they aren't always easy to snap or unsnap, and are pulling out of the frame and the canvas. One decision made.... several more to go! Wish I had the option of moving further south for the winter, but it ain't in the cards this year. But if the weather holds like it has so far, it will be a much milder winter than last year - fingers crossed!Pat
