Intermittent Cruise Control September 15, 2014, 06:19:30 pm Yahoo Message Number: 148625For several years now the cruise control on our 06 would work off and on. Ed Daniels posted about this in the past.Today I would have really liked it but would not work reliably. The problem in Ed's 2008 turned out to be a Cruise Control Cutout Switch. They told him it was a brake pressure switch and I have seen it referred to as a Cruise Control Release Switch. This should be the part.2006 Ford E-450 Super Duty Cruise Control Cutout Switch | FordParts.comHowever this includes the wiring harness which you likely don't need. Part SW6349 appears to just be the switch. You can find it for about $18.00 on ebay including shipping.I put off doing this because I was concerned about fluid leaking out since this switch is located on the bottom of the brake resevoir.Today, I found this video which leads me to conclude that replacing it doesn't effect the fluid level.Ford Cruise Control DiagnosisI will be ordering one and see if it solves the problem.Jim C

Re: Intermittent Cruise Control, Fixed Reply #2 – September 28, 2014, 09:21:42 pm Yahoo Message Number: 148735So the good and bad news. The good news is that the part I mentioned seems to have fixed the cruise control. Have driven about 300 miles over the last couple of trips and it worked perfectly. Also, the part is easy to access. It requires removing three bolts that secure the radiator overflow container. Once that is done you can see the switch on the bottom of the brake fluid reservoir. The bad: It does leak fluid when you remove it, however, the amount is miniscule. The biggest headache is that it took us 20 minutes to get the threads to catch but once done it threaded in easily.I took some photos and uploaded them into a folder entitled Cruise Control Switch.I purchased mine here for $16.05 including shipping which was a great deal and they are a Ford dealer. They confirmed the VIN and the part when I called them. Quick shipping as well.http://www.ebay.com/itm/321361519671?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AITI should add that for some inexplicable reason the part that includes a new wiring harness is actually cheaper than the one that just has the switch, go figure. That part is SW 6350, part SW 6349 is just the switch. It is my understanding that this same part has been used for many years.Anyway, with the exception of getting the new one threaded on the rest was good. Thanks again to Ed Daniels for pointing me in the right direction.Jim C

Too many people post a problem and never let the rest of us know what the fix is.TomSo the good and bad news. The good news is that the part I mentioned seems to have fixed the cruise control.
