Selling a Lazy Daze on the private market.

We have our 2006 26.5' rear bath model located in Virginia Beach, VA for sale in the "for sale" section.  Does not seem to be generating much interest.  This week I decided to list it on Craigslist and RVT.com to see if that would help some.  I have tried to price it to sell and be very detailed with the photos and description.  I am open to any suggestions from members if you feel my ad needs some work.
Have any other members out there used a different source to sell their LD? Thanks!!

Based on our recent successful experience in selling my Stepfather's LD, I believe that excellent quality pictures are essential. Many of the pictures of your LD on Flickr are not focused correctly. Right or wrong, potential buyers see missing or poorly-focused pictures as attempts to mislead a buyer or mask a flaw. For instance, you should remove the carpet from the front area. A buyer may assume that the carpet is placed there to hide a carpet stain. I think you also need more pictures of the living area. Engine and generator pictures aren't essential. People need to be able to picture themselves living in your RV. I would also include a picture of the floorplan. You can find the 2006 Lazy Daze floorplans searching the Internet.

I would also, in your ad, highlight the limited production of the Lazy Daze. Don't assume that buyers all know about what makes a Lazy Daze different from other Class Cs. Why did you decide to purchase a Rear Bath versus a Mid-Bath? What are the advantages of the Rear Bath?

Finally, Craigslist is where the action is. I totally agree with a previous suggestion that you place a listing in the Los Angeles Craigslist. But remember, you need to make your ad very compelling to get a buyer to travel thousands of miles!

--- Agreed; and the more high-quality descriptions and photos of the "essentials", the better. I'm often surprised at the sketchy, sometimes inaccurate and incomplete details in many For Sale ads, e.g., not listing (or listing incorrectly) the model, the mileage, and/or at least a few of the "extras" on the rig. And, for me, the "Email me for photos" thing is a turn-off; if photos are available, why not post them with the ad in the first place or at least provide a link (if the ad format doesn't allow "integrated" photos)?

If I were selling, I'd provide a detailed, accurate, candid "words and photos" description of every pertinent feature of the exterior and interior (including any "warts"), maybe even including the engine compartment (my rig's engine is definitely clean, but can I cheat and use a photo of Tom Riley's "prepped for surgery" engine compartment? ;-) ), of all the extras and add-ons, e.g., solar panels, suspension upgrades, multistage converter, LinkLite, LPG fitting for a Wave, upgraded faucets, etc., *empty* compartments (or with a few items to show size/capacity perspective), and whatever else I could include to make the rig appealing to a buyer.

In addition to Craig's List(s), RV Trader, Oodle, and RV Online are possible ad locations.

As always, YMMV.

Our best results when we were selling our Class C SOB was to park it in the town's shopping center parking where the parking lot fronted the main road, along with the 5 or 6 other cars and RVs. We got more calls off that than Craigslist and a few RV websites, and eventually sold it there. The center did not have any signs displayed prohibiting it, to our surprise.

Interesting with all the talk about pictures. I have contacted a few sellers that couldn't understand why I wanted pictures. One said well LDs are all alike if you are interested in one why would you want pictures?

Most are very good and good pictures sure help. Others ask astronomical prices and they sit for a year or so or they end up selling for less. I had one that was priced right and thought we had a deal then they wanted to take it on vacation and keep it through the summer. That is basically making it a year older. If you are advertising it for sale be ready to sell it. If it is not going to be available for a while at least make that clear in the ad.  And then there was the perfect one that was priced right and I just didn't pull the trigger on..

But pictures are very important as is an accurate description. Price reasonable close to what one wants as I don't want to insult anyone with what they consider a low ball offer. Sometimes they end up selling for less than I would have offered..

But it takes pictures to even get the Misses or me interested..

I will ask for emailed pictures and still some don't want to do that. They are few but do exist.

I certainly agree that pictures are important.  But I am not sure that people are reluctant to provide or send pictures.  I am 70 years old and consider myself adept with computers, but it wasn't that long ago that my grown kids showed me how to text, and how to take and send and attach iPhone pictures. Perhaps people who are now ready to sell their LazyDaze RV's have been having too much fun using their mobile homes and never got around yet  to learn how to take pictures and attach them to their online ads.

How do those busy people keep in touch with their children and grandchildren? Time to learn how to send pictures!
 Frankly, we're 70 years old, too, and getting pictures from our children and grandchildren is harder than getting them from our peers.
Apparently, even the smartest phone doesn't know enough to send a picture to Gram and Gramp right after the phone's owner took a picture of a grandchild.

Thank you all for the feedback.  I have it posted on the LA craigslist, RVT , this site and RV Trader.  Hopefully it generates some interest.  Keep the feedback coming.  No commented on my asking price but I was trying to price it to sell.  Thanks again.

Our LD has a sale pending as of today.  I was unable to update my sale ad in the selling section.  The edit function does not appear to be working.  As the original poster of this conversation I just wanted to provide an update.  Thanks for the sale tips provided by other members as it generated quite a few calls and emails.  I am sure the new owners will love her as much as we have.

I had to laugh at your comment on getting pictures from your children of the grandchildren is harder than from your peers!  Hahaha  I get all mine from their posts on Facebook!
