Having the hood propped open does make it easier to notice the mischief they're up to, though! ;-)Maybe the propped-open hood can work in some areas, and it's certainly worth trying; it's true that rodents prefer dark, closed spaces to make their nests, but, seriously, I have no idea what will work to keep rodents and whatnot out of the engine compartment except constant vigilance and/or parking/storing/camping in "rodent-free zones", and I can't say where those "sanitized" locations might be! :-(Going out to check the engine compartment...Joan
