12 v fans

I am a LD owner but I have a question about my friends 18 ft trailer. That saw the fans in my LD and want some in their trailer. Could they just run wires from their 12v overhead light to power a 12v fan? Also, can the cigarette lighter plug be cut off and the 2 wires connected to the wires of the overhead light?  It seems like all of the 12v fans we have found so far plug into a cigarette lighter receptacle, which they don't have in the trailer

It would be helpful to know what fans you're talking about. Fan-Tastic vent fans? Something else?

Generally speaking, 12 V fans found in RVs draw between 1 and 3 amps, and the wiring that powers an overhead light can probably handle that additional load. The light needs to have a switch on its housing, though--if it's switched from the wall, then that wall switch would control both light and fan simultaneously.

A Fan-Tastic fan fits into a standard 14" square RV vent opening, so if they have standard vents, then Fan-Tastic vent fans could be substituted. This isn't a trivial undertaking, though--there's lots of sealant to remove.

If they're talking about standalone or bracket-mounted 12 V fans, this Eureka article may be of interest.

Sure.
