Replacing Amber Clearance Lights

Hi All,

My LD is 14 years old and I was washing the front cabover too vigorously (bugs) and cracked all of the amber lenses on the clearance lights.  14 years of sunlight makes most plastics very brittle and mine turned in their death certificates.

Doing some reading of past messages on broken clearance lights, someone had said that the Truck-Lite 8934A (or R for red) worked perfectly.  I guess that was true on their motorhome, but on my 2000 MB, they don't fit.  The 8934A is too large and doesn't slip into the socket.

Does anyone know the correct replacement make and number for the clearance lights???

I called the factory and they can mail new lenses to me, but I was hoping to find them locally without the fuss of sending the factory a check plus shipping costs.  Buying certain things from the factory makes lots of sense, but a clearance light seems like a trivial thing.  The person I spoke with at Lazy Daze was unwilling to tell me the make and number of the lens they use.

As a last resort, I'll call the factory back and order 5 new amber covers.

Hi Bob. My 1999 TKB is also a little over 14 years old and I'm on my 4th  set of amber lenses. I usually buy ten amber and five red at a time. I visit the  mothership to see the new models. (driving is still more expensive than  shipping) They have a good supply and the prices are reasonable. Guaranteed to  fit.  RonB

Read the part number on my existing lenses.  I can report back for positive confirmation after I receive them. I just bought my rig so have not had the pleasure of replacing yet.

I have a 2002 and this is where I found replacements: its the 100-15A.

Thank you to both Gil and Langton for the correct info on the clearance lights.

  • Petersen Lighting 100-15A

 This is the correct part number for the amber lens.  R would be used for the red clearance lights.

I don't think you can buy them directly from the manufacture. I got mine off the auction site but Amazon has them.
Just enter Peterson Mfg Co 102-15a Repl Lens or 102-15r for the red version.

So I originally purchased from Amazon through Silver Moon Trailers. They sent me the wrong units and stated that the warehouse must have run out. To their credit, they provided an immediate refund and told me to keep the units (although I have no intention of using these units).

Next I tried rvautoparts.com and they delivered....literally.  I have the lenses in hand and they seem to be spot on and have no reason to think that they will not work.  So unless you hear from me, Peterson Manuf. Part No. 100-15x (A for Amber and R for Red) are the right lenses for the running lights...on my 2001 anyway.

I just purchased 5 amber/5 red lens from foxtaillights.com. They carry the complete Peterson lighting line. Price was 1.27ea amber (100-15A)/1.28 red (100-15R). Shipping was 3.72/per 5 lens from Missouri to Oregon. If you ship all 10 together, shipping was over 8.00. Best price I could find with shipping............

Hi

To  anyone who may have been perusing yesterday's PD thread, here is an update.

My  PD4655 charger went into it's storage (float) mode with a battery voltage of  13.25 V. Unfortunately I cannot pinpiont the amount of time it took since it  happened during the night last night. It was more than thirty and less than 40  hours. It went into this mode even though the coach systems were  drawing a  .2 Ampere parasitic load.
