Electrical puzzel update

Thank you Alex, Dale, Andy, George and Dick for your ideas on this situation.  Here's what I've learned (and verified) from your input:  the 120 volt circuit to the entertainment center is fed from a 12 volt to 120 volt inverter located under the fridge in a mid-bath LD.  This is the only 12-120 volt circuit in this rig.  All the wiring and connections are sound; the output at the inverter is 95 volts.  I called LD to get a new inverter (it's a Power Star GPU400) and learned Power Star is no longer in business, they don't offer a replacement, and they no longer use inverters as the TVs are now 12 volt. From what I've learned so far there are several 'pure sine wave' inverters (what you need for the new TVs, computers, printers  etc.) available in the $150- $200 that look like they will work.  One questions remains: there are five wires on the output side of the inverter- two red (14-12) wires, one white, one black, and a ground.  I can trace the white, black and ground to the TV receptacle but the two red ones go into a loom to ??  LD doesn't have a schematic and no one could remember what the two red ones are.  Any ideas on these two red wires?  Gordon Thistle

Gordon,

This is just a guess, but it could be that those wires go to a power switch near the TV that control wether or not that inverter has input 12 volt power.  So, if you have that switch, that would the reason for those wires.  Without a switch  the inverter would always be drawing some power from the house batteries.

Also, remember what I said about the TV possibly not being compatible with the inverter.  It could be that another TV would be happy with the inverter you have.

The factory-installed Power Star inverter is remotely controllable. The two red wires most likely go to a rocker switch in the TV cabinet, as I mentioned earlier. Pull that switch off the wall, and I'll bet you'll find red wires on the back.
