Electric space heater March 06, 2014, 05:05:12 pm Yahoo Message Number: 145240When I was down at the RV show I seen this space heater. This is the 3 year that they have been there. There web sight is www.tri-flo.com This heater for 110 volt and 15 amp will put out 39,000BTU per hour. That is twice what the furnace in the MH puts out. It has a thermostat from 70 to 90* The nice part is that there is no way that the unit can tip over and there are no hot surfaces that you can be burnt on or start a fire. For those that have shore power it is a great way to go. But it is a little price-ie
Re: Electric space heater Reply #1 – March 06, 2014, 05:52:43 pm Yahoo Message Number: 145244I looked at their ad on the web, and you quoted it correctly. However, their numbers don't add up. Electricity consumption of 120 volts at 14.5 amps (their numbers) works out to be 1740 Watts. (Other engineers; I won't go into power factor which won't matter much). Google says the conversion from Watts to BTUs per hour is 3.41214; that is if I have 1 Watt of power dissipation, it will create 3.41214 BTUs of heat per hour. Since I have 1740 Watts that works out to be 5,937 BTUs per hour; a far cry from 39,000.Tri. Flo has a lot of words about it's air handling but that has nothing to do with the basic energy input-output relationships that the obviously do not understand.Linley
Re: Electric space heater Reply #2 – March 07, 2014, 12:09:14 am Yahoo Message Number: 145248I agree with you. That math does not agree. I do not know how they come about this figure. you would need to call them. I spent some time with them the other year but do not remember much about the heater. This year I only took the broshere for this forum. We always dry camp and never have power hook ups.
