Distant networks bails

Well, now what?? Without any warning what so ever, I turned on my TV, and discovered that America's Distant Networks just....quit!

I relied on them for east/west coast feeds of the locals..ABC, NBC, CBS, etc., as I travel both sides of the country. I rarely stay put for more than a few days at a time, so having to continually call in and change my service area so I can receive them from DISH sounds both laborious and time consuming. I'd need an address and zip code for whatever 'spot beam' area I might end up in each day. And I've also been told some agents have no problem doing that, but there are others that try and say it's illegal, you can't do that, etc.

There's also the issue of knowing what channels will have the programming on that I'm looking for, each and every change of area...sigh.

I need to swap out my old analog tube TV without the digital converter box for a more modern one, and that's another rather complicated endeavor, in the 30ft. IB w/entertainment center. I know others have done it successfully, but it's a bit above my ability to have it come out looking NICE, not piecemealed into place.

Right now, I still have the old original Winegard batwing antenna...can any suggest what would be the best add-on or replacement antenna to use for over-the-air programming after I replace the old analog TV?
Any other suggestions for ways to receive local channels as we travel around via Sat.?

Gini, it's been known for quite a while now that AAD (All American Direct) was going out of business and their last day of broadcasting was this past Wednesday.
You could, of course, change to DirecTV, but they only allow one coast, not both, according to the address where you're RV is registered.  If that address is in the Eastern or Central time zone, you'll get the East Coast feeds; if it's in the Mountain or Pacific time zone, you'll get the West Coast feeds.  Since you're going to need a new satellite dish, anyway, that might be an option for you to consider.
As far as calling Dish Network each time you move, that might not be necessary depending on the size of the spot beam for that particular market.  For example, we are watching Tucson, AZ local channels in Las Vegas, NV.  Could we call Dish and change to Las Vegas?  Sure, but why?  We don't watch or care about "local" news...we only watch national news...and local weather we can get online.  The network programs are the same no matter where you are.
And, you don't have to call...you can use Dish's Chat feature on their website.  I've done that and it's easy...just be sure you let them know up front that you're in an RV since it will save a lot of unnecessary questions.
As far as the satellite dish is concerned, I highly recommend spending the money for the Winegard Trav'ler...an automatic dish that's installed on your roof.  Push a button and within minutes, you'll be watching TV.  You'll be able to "see" all 3 satellites at the same time which is great if you have a DVR and, if you decide to go to DirecTV, you'll be able to get HD programming, which you cannot do with your current dish (or with a dome, either).  You will have to decide whether or not you want to stay with Dish or move to DirecTV since the two dishes are not interchangeable (although if you have the DirecTV Winegard Trav'ler, you are apparently able to switch the DirecTV LNBs for the Dish LNBs...but you can't do the reverse if you have a Dish Winegard Trav'ler.
Or, you could go with a manual open-faced, multiple-LNB dish on a tripod; however, that would mean setting it up manually each time you stop...not to mention trying to find a place to store all the equipment when you're traveling.
For now, you might consider staying with Dish since they might be working on either offering DNS themselves like they used to, or finding another company like AAD to pick up the DNS.  Only time will tell.  We're Dish customers too, but we're not changing to DirecTV since our address would mean West Coast feeds rather than East Coast feeds, which is what we've always watched.  And it would also mean spending the money to replace our Dish Winegard Trav'ler with the DirecTV Trav'ler...ain't gonna happen!

Winegard Traveler mounted and portable       dome works with both DirecTV and Dish just by changing the DIN       switches...

That's true of most domes (there are a few that work just with Dish), but not the Trav'ler since it is not a dome.

This is the Trav'ler I've mentioned:

Gini, if you were implying that your original batwing might not work for broadcast TV (over the air - locals), then I think you will find it will still work just fine for that when you replace your analog TV with HD TV. I added the Wingman http://www.amazon.com/Winegard-RV-WING-Wingman-Booster-Antenna/dp/B001U2DPUE and it seems to help a little with digital channels. Having the antenna oriented correctly seems to be the key to best reception. Otherwise, DirecTV might be your choice as others have said. I also have DirecTV but use it with the original sat antenna which does not work for HD. I get all the channels but only is Standard Definition. HD comes in via the batwing antenna.
I replaced the 20" analog TV on our '02 30' with a Vizio 26" and have the installation documented by photos. Should you wish the photo history for someone to help you with, please let me know. The new set up works great.
