made a decision on TPMS January 24, 2014, 04:12:35 pm Yahoo Message Number: 144717Went with the TST 507 with flow-thru caps. I really like the fact that it is American made. The people here are the makers of this unit, and they were very forth right with information, as well as having an excellent customer service attitude...good follow thru if there are any issues or unit failures. That means a lot to me.I only found one negative review on them, the rest were all pretty high praise, w/ Amazon's all 4s and 5s. The one negative had TWO trailers and a large truck and had issues with the swapping the sensors back and forth between rigs, etc.The price was reasonable, ($289)..and they just put the warranty up to three years. The individual tire sensors are easily replaced if need be, and the batteries are very easy to replace when the time comes. I didn't opt for the anti theft caps, as i wanted to retain my alligators, and this set up allows for that...eze of use for my needs. The monitor is small [doesn't take up a lot of real estate], tho bigger than the Tire Tracker and Tire Minder models. It can mount on dash or window and includes mounting equipment. The reasons I didn't go w/ Pressure Pro was that it doesn't monitor heat build up, I didn't like the monitor, and I couldn't replace my sensor batteries as needed. That, and it was more expensive. Soooo, I'll keep the group informed if it has been a good choice as I go on down the road with it! Re: made a decision on TPMS Reply #2 – January 25, 2014, 11:42:34 am Yahoo Message Number: 144722I'm a little confused as to the value of flow-thru caps. In my experience owning a TPMS, regularly adding air is eliminated with the use of of TPMS, none is lost checking the tire pressure. The Michelin LTX are very air-tight. The 507's flow-thru opening and the removable battery are two more places for water to enter the electronics. If choosing the TST system, the new, sealed 510 style sensors would seem to offer the best reliability. With all the new interest in TPMS, it will be interesting to see how they stack up with each other after a year or two of use.Larry

As to replaceable batteries allowing water into the electronics, well sure, maybe, though with proper O-ring seal design that should be unlikely. Well designed O-ring seals can withstand literally thousands of pounds of pressure, so keeping out rain is not a problem - - if done right (?). If you do a search on replacing TPMS batteries, you'll find all manner of info re cutting away the potting material and soldering in replacement batteries on the non-replaceable sealed sending units. I'd rather buy the serviceable ones to begin with - - all else being equal.bumper
