Battery Question
Yahoo Message Number: 144536
I am picking up a couple of Trojan T145 in the morning. Amongst other things I plan on checking the output at the terminal before installing. What should I expect that to be or what would suggest a problem?

I know how to read the date that the electrolyte was installed and reviewed Chris H's doc on how to replace so I think I am good to go except for the above.

I'd say that each battery should have a voltage between about 6.2V to 6.4V.  This would be not connected and having been at rest for a while.

I have a pair of 6 volt batterys that have been setting in a cold gaurge for 3 1/2 month to trade in this spring for new ones. The bat are 9 years old from the 2005 LD. The good one still shows 6.2 volts. It has not been charged for 3 1/2 month.
First thing to check is the date code. All bat have a date code on them. When built. 12-13 would be December 2013. You want bat with the newest dates and matching dates. If they are selling a number of bat the code should not be more than 3 months old. When we were looking at bat at Costco in the fall the codes were no more than 1 month old. This shows they sell a lot of bat. Me I would draw the line at 3 and no more than 4 months old.

Thanks to you both. Regarding codes. Trojan puts two codes one on the positive and the negative terminals. One tells you the date of mfg and the other tells you when electrolyte was added and it shipped from the factory.

They use letters and numbers. A-L represents the months Jan-Dec. On date of mfg they use two digits for year. On date shipped they use a single digit, so L3 would mean it shipped Dec. 2013.

The 105s have worked pretty well for us the past 6 years.
