Generator+A/C

Greetings, I would like some opinions from the group.  A month ago StaBil was put in the gas tank of our FD and we took a camping trip.  How often do I need to run the generator in the winter with the StaBib?  Does the interval change?
The second question regards the A/C in the winter.  I try to run the A/C when the generator is run.  Does running the heat pump suffice, or does it have to be the A/C?

Thanks in advance.    Robert 'Sandy' Brownson(recently retired!) Grand Junction, CO

Hi rsbodd,
I believe and have been told By Greg at Advance Generators in Azuza Ca. that our Onan 4kw generators should be run at least 2 hours per month under a load.

I do not figure that putting StaBib in the gas tank is worth the cost. To do it right it will take about 25 oz of Stabib for a 60 gallon tank. The fuel injected MH engine is not the problem because there is no carb in which  the fuel will suggar. But the gen does have a carb. And over the winter the gas in the gen will suggar. This is the reason for starting the gen once a month. I start the gen every 4 to 6 week and let it run for about 15 minutes with a small load. I also start the MH engine and let it run at the same time. Pick a warm day and the engines will warm up faster. The 60 gallon of fuel will lose some of its power over the winter but you will delute this gas after you firt fill up after tunning 200 miles in the spring and not notice much difference in power. In fact for you in West Colorado there is more of a problem with the summer and winter gas than old gas.
