The big benefit is many of these old thermostats had up to 7 deg of swing(hysteresis) and this can be cut down to a degree or two. Hopefully we're leaving super early tomorrow -- heading to Death Valley instead of Yosemite which we deemed as too cold (around 20F) for our old LD -- I didn't want to risk freezing any pipes or causing additional work on top of my current tasks for it..
