Re: LD Windshield Cover - is it worthwhile Reply #25 – January 31, 2014, 03:24:10 pm Yahoo Message Number: 144803Andy, et. al.,I'm interested in buying a Sunpro windshield cover. However, I have the opaque cover that the factory sells. This means I have the twist fasteners that the factory mounted on the cab doors of my MB. These are held on with two philips head screws and caulked on the inner side. The Sunpro windshield cover uses a magnet to hold the rear bottom corner of the cover in place rather than the twist fasterners that LD's opaque cover uses. What did people do to resolve this? Did you order a regular Sunpro cover and then remove the twist fasteners from the MH? If so, how'd you seal up the holes so it looked good and didn't rust? Alternatively, did you order a Sunpro cover without the magnets and then add a twist fastener eyelet and washer to the cover once you received it and could measure for correct placement of the eyelet? Thanks, Mike

The screen lets through most of the light - visibility through from inside is decent, but almost impossible to see into the rig in the daytime. At night we pull the curtains, but you could add the stock outside cover for some insulation and complete blackout. For real insulation overnight, drape a blanket to isolate the cab completely.Steve
Re: LD Windshield Cover - is it worthwhile Reply #27 – January 31, 2014, 06:23:27 pm Yahoo Message Number: 144807We just left the turn-buttons on the doors for the times we use the solid cover from LD. Our SunPro attaches just like the solid cover except the magnets that hold the bottom corners on the doors. The turn-buttons don't seem to cause any problems with the magnets.Art http://arts-work.blogspot.com (currently in Austin, TX)

Paint the screws to match or leave as is.-Fill the holes and paint. Either DIY or professionally. -I'm not sure if the Sunpro fabric will hold an eyelet without additional reinforcing fabric layer(s). Installing snaps and eyelets isn't very difficult. Install the cover and once fitted to your satisfaction, mark the locations for the eyelets with a Sharpie. Remove the cover and crimp the eyelets in place. You might want to do one fastener at a time to keep everything straight. I would try removing the fabric in the center of the eyelet by using a red-hot nail to melt the plastic fabric away.. Remove one twist fastener as a sample for the right fit, If replacing the twist, make sure the new fastener's screws holes have the same spacing . Re: LD Windshield Cover - is it worthwhile Reply #29 – February 01, 2014, 12:52:42 pm Yahoo Message Number: 144822As Art said, the SunPro mesh windshield cover works with just its magnets; mine has never blown off, and I've been in some severe windstorms. (I have had to replace the upper-corner elastics, though as they loosen up after a few years.) Ignore the turn-buttons on the doors and you'll be fine.Andy
