Fridge door paneling replacement

While poking around our 97, I noticed that the paneling covering the fridge door can (almost) be removed by removing the 3 screws on the top or bottom of the door. Has anyone replaced this darker paneling with something lighter? I was thinking of a lighter color panel, a dry erase board, or even a magnetic one. I think this can be done to the freezer door too. It would go a ways toward brightening the interior. Thoughts?

Thanks, Ray

My 2007 RB has silver contact paper on the fridge and it looks like a stainless steel appliance to most folks. The original owner taped something to the fridge and the "fake wood paper" came off with the tape so she covered her mistake with the contact paper. Not sure if she took out the panels to put it on. It isn't really glaringly shiny, just looks like a mat finish stainless steel.

Ray, it's not hard to replace the decorative inserts in the fridge and freezer doors. But on my first rig, which had very dark paneling there, I did something even simpler: I covered them with almond-colored Con-Tact self-adhesive film. I did all the drawer and cabinet doors too, while I was at it. You can see the results here:

It cost only a few dollars and an afternoon to do, but it ended up looking like Formica laminate. It went a long way toward lightening up a dark mid-80s interior!

Sorry for the multiple posts! My internet connection was wonky this morning and the messages just didn't seem to be getting through, so I kept trying... shoulda known better.
