The "Blackwoods" campground is heavily wooded and 5 miles from Bar Harbor. (Dry camping only $20 night) Now as we look at new destinations, for example, Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas, we are faced with closed NPS website etc. Anyone familiar with Arkansas? We need camping recommendations for our Nov visit enroute back to Minnesota from the East Coast.Todd '99 RB and '02 Honda CRV

It's about 10 miles outside of Hot Springs, easy in and out and very pleasant.Do take the time to treat yourselves at one of the bath houses that offer a mineral bath...I believe we went to the Buckstaff and it was quite an experience, plus, if you don't already know how, you will learn how to properly tie a toga!While in Hot Springs there is also the very lovely Garvan Woodland Gardens which is operated by the UArkansas on a 210-acre sight on Lake Hamilton.As you head to Hot Springs along I-40, I hope you've got visits to Nashville and Memphis planned...a great spot to stay while visiting Memphis is the Tom Sawyer Mississippi River Park, which is right on the banks of the MS River in West Memphis, AR. While West Memphis has nothing that I've ever been able to discover worth seeing, the Park has a wonderful spot to view the River traffic. It's located at 450 Mulberry Street, and there is ample RV parking. Although no photographs are allowed, the historical and contemporary exhibits will be seared into your brain.Additional information at www dot civilrightsmuseum dot org.Also, If Memphis Blues music tugs at your soul, there are ample venues to satisfy both music and food appetites on Beale Street. For example, at Glen Canyon National Recreation area: "The shutdown has furloughed 125 employees and has affected more than 500 concessions employees. The only rigs in them are people who were here before the closure and had their passes already. He said they were afraid to kick people out. "However, the BLM 14-day areas are open. The camp host told me to just park anywhere. When the flag goes up on the pole, then the LTVAs are open. He said they are not going to hold to the 14-day rule during this time, if the shut-down lasts longer than that."It's still a little early, but it's like a ghost town, RV-wise.
