After Labor Day Lazy Daze Deal!
Yahoo Message Number: 142820
Hello fellow Lazy Daze'rs New to the group. Been wanting to buy one since a a buddy bought one 5 years ago. Looked at one at that time but didn't buy a 89 26.5ft or maybe 30ft RB w/Ford chassis for 10k due to wife being out of town, which I regretted ever since. That is until I finally bought one 2nd day after Labor Day.
Just thought I'd browse Craigslist and happen upon one for sale of all places a local Salvation Army ARC. Someone was supposed to buy it after labor day but he was a no show. Went first thing the next morning before work to inspect it.
Price on the windshield had 9k, ad I saw said 6k, auto manager said he would take $5500. Jumped on it without further negotiations.
What I drove out with was a 92 26.5ft rear bath, Ford chassis 7.5l, fully loaded. 73k on the ODO, 89 hours on the Onan, 2 solar panels, Freedom 20 inverter, auto satellite system, cold cab & coach AC, Bridgestone tires with lots of tread, HWH leveling jacks, registered till Nov2013, all amenities but food still left in the cabin and storage, 2nd owner, clean carfax. Had it smogged, zero CO2 emissions, runs nice and smooth.
My wife was our of town again when this popped up I wasn't passing it up this time. A good clay bar & wax job will make it 10 years younger. Only problems cracked rear glass, cracked dome on Fantastic Fan, CB not working properly, R side speakers not working. Already have new CB, 102in whip, stereo, speakers, 32in lcd, bought and ready to be installed.
Took it out first weekend for some beach time, and promptly christened itself with a full bottle of wine which flew out of the freezer during a turn. Regardless cleaning up the mess we had a great day! I'm a happy LDRV camper :) and look forward to many more future adventures soon.

Congratulations, Ken & Nem! Sounds as if you got a bargain. :-)

One suggestion: lots of tread is nice, but check the date codes in all your tires, including the spare. If they're more than six years old, they should be replaced regardless of tread. Otherwise you're courting a dangerous and expensive blowout. Members of this group can testify to the consequences of trying to get "just a few more miles" out of tires that look good, but are old.

For a quick explanation of tire date codes, see the Lazy Daze Pocket Guide. Happy trails in your new rig!

Hi Ken, congrats on your purchase you landed a great deal, I almost bought your coach I saw it 45 minutes after it posted! would have bought it for myself, but I have a 91 mid bath and I love it too much to  trade. The geny and jacks will be very handy and it's very nice to have the convenience now I'm spoiled. When your ready to fix your glass take it to NAGCO glass in Pomona tel:909-623-3343 they are the only place in the US with the thin bronze tinted glass for your rear window, I had my rear center panel replaced and it was not cheap however it matches perfectly and they did a great job. I think it cost about $350 out the door 1.5 years ago. I opted to keep the orig brown rubber trim, they only make it in black now and it will cost $$$ extra to replace, they hit me with that option on site. BTW They require an appointment. I had to wait a couple of weeks to get a Friday or Saturday appointment. While your out there perhaps stop by the mothership for a look see, maybe get some odds and ends at the parts store. Bring cash or a checkbook they are trapped in 1965 and don't accept anything else! Have fun and I'll keep an eye out for you on the beach.
