New Yahoo Format August 28, 2013, 05:04:47 pm Yahoo Message Number: 142302Am I the only one who thinks this new format might just be OK once we get used to it? The format, which just showed up today, has a photo of a bicycle rider riding up a mountain in the header. Is this the one everyone is talking about? Clicking on "about" gets one to the stats about this forum. Anyway, I suspect we will have to live with it and I suggest disenchanted folks take the guided tour of the new format that Yahoo is offering. I like having all my Yahoo groups showing on the upper left side of the opening page. BTW, I read all messages on the website. Chris H

Aas I said, I'm willing to give it a try, but at the moment it seems to be so badly broken that I can't use it. So how am I posting this? When I went to the group just now, it had magically reverted to the old format! I have no idea what that means--maybe they realized that the Neo pages were seriously broken?--but I'll make the most of it while it lasts. :-) "The format, which just showed up today, has a photo of a bicycle rider riding up a mountain in the header. Is this the one everyone is talking about?"Yup. "I suggest disenchanted folks take the guided tour of the new format that Yahoo is offering." I would have, but the link didn't work. Likewise, the "New Topic" box didn't do anything, so I couldn't post via the website.. :: sigh :: "What do you mean, Andy? Like a bunch of messages being sent out all the time?" Finding out exactly what data were being sent is beyond my technical skills, but I know exactly where they were going: the recipient of the data was fd-geocys-l.gy1.b.yahoodns.net. It was a constant stream of data at about 20 KB per second, as long as I was connected to the "Neo" version of the group's page. There was no such outgoing data stream on any other website, or on Yahoo's homepage, and there's no outgoing data now that I'm looking at the old version of our Yahoo site. I can't imagine that this was done intentionally--must have been a bug. Maybe that's why they appear to have temporarily returned us to the old format.Andy Baird http://www.andybaird.com/travels/
Re: New Yahoo Format Reply #4 – August 28, 2013, 09:51:16 pm Yahoo Message Number: 142314I, too, went into shock when I saw the "new" format! I could not figure out how to do anything except read a very few messages. I went to a different website for awhile and when I returned, lo and behold, there was the good old format back again. Thanks to whoever at Yahoo got the message that we (almost)all couldn't stand whatever they had tried to do. Who gets these ideas over there? They could use a break from sitting in front of their computers and playing games with everyone.Roz, The Perpetual Wannabe
