Did Yahoo Groups change is look again? August 26, 2013, 06:00:42 pm Yahoo Message Number: 142236When I sign on I no longer get the photo and front page I was accustom to. Also the layout of the page is different. This has happened to all my yahoo group pages and did so sometime after 00:25 hrs 26 Aug. I am trying to get into the settings with no success on the off chance that I might have changed something. I miss seeing the photo or someone trip get put up for all to see. Now I just get a soccer ball banner photo. Thanks in advance John

I clicked on the feedback button along the left side of my screen and let them know how that I did not like the change.

Reply #8 – August 26, 2013, 09:44:58 pm Yahoo Message Number: 142246It looks the same on my screen, too, but I have read in the last few days posts from other list masters about NEO. Let's say they have not been happy posts! This was posted on a Wikipedia article. I have no idea what this is all about, but it doesn't look like there is any option if one's group is "chosen" to participate.Yahoo! Groups remodel 2013 "neo"[edit source | editbeta] On August 7, 2013, Yahoo! Groups rolled out[30] one more web-interface redesign, unannounced, to randomly chosen users, with no possibility of opt-out, even after complaints to Customer Care. Protests of Yahoo! Groups users (group owners, moderators, members) on the official Feedback Forum about unusability and multiple lost features[31] apparently ignored, more users shanghaied into "neo".Virtual hugs, Judie http://dorrieanne.wordpress.comToday: Cloud Volcano [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

On my Macbook running on Mountain Lion and using the Safari browser I see the website as usual. But, using the latest Firefox browser on the same machine gives me the website as John sees it, i.e. with soccer ball background. Now, Yahoo knows which browser you're using, so they could be screwing up and presenting you with a different look. Yahoo also knows the screen size, your OS, etc. I would blame Yahoo.Alex Rutchka, SE #4 '05 MB

All three show identical home pages, and all three browsers are at the latest revision. So I don't think its browser related. Re: Did Yahoo Groups change is look again? Reply #13 – August 26, 2013, 10:57:46 pm Yahoo Message Number: 142254"I trust Andy will get to the bottom of this." Fortunately, Judie already has--which is good, because I can't see any difference. It seems Yahoo has forced this on random users, apparently as part of a test: "Yahoo! Groups rolled out one more web-interface redesign, unannounced, to randomly chosen users, with no possibility of opt-out, even after complaints to Customer Care." My sympathies are with those affected, but it's evident from what Judie found that there's not much we peons can do about it. The only thing I can think of is to go to the top. Yahoo's CEO, Marissa Mayer, is reportedly very focused on "user experience." Now, I don't know her email address, but it couldn't hurt to send a short email to, say, mmayer at yahoo dot com--it might get through. If you do, tell her--politely!--that you find the new user experience disturbing, and (this is important) that it makes you not want to use Yahoo. Keep it short, or it probably won't be read. The best tone to take is probably "more in sorrow than in anger"--you don't want to leave Yahoo, but this ugliness is pushing you away. I can't do this because I haven't *seen* the new user experience. It's up to you. Couldn't hurt.Andy Baird http://www.andybaird.com/travels/

The message that Judie quoted makes it pretty clear that the difference is that Yahoo chose some members at random and inflicted this new system on them. That's why we're not all seeing it. Thanks for the pointer to the Yahoo suggestion page. I posted my complaint, and I urge everyone else who is affected by this "NEO" scheme to do likewise.Andy Baird http://www.andybaird.com/travels/
Re: Did Yahoo Groups change is look again? Reply #19 – August 30, 2013, 12:53:27 am Yahoo Message Number: 142355I posted a note in the feedback section detailing my issues. Tonight I received the following e-mail message from Yahoo's Product Support group, (I am doing a cut and paste, please forgive the format), " Thank you for the feedback. We are listening and will do our best to address customer issues as quickly as we can. There was an issue with groups that had attachments disabled had issues with posting messages, issue has been fixed. The new experience allows owner to change a member's privileges and retains the granular level of control on these privileges. Thank you for the feedback we will work on making this better for our customers The universal search box on the top of the page allows for searching for messages and groups. Also when viewing messages customers can search by message number or view the messages history. yes we've introduced the new cover image per group that is customizable by owners and moderators Try manage my groups on the left navigation and you can bulk edit your message delivery settings and save them ! The ability to edit a posted message during approval, is currently not working and will be fixed. Yahoo! Groups Product Team I did try the search next the yahoo logo picking "Batteries" and again drilling down a bit more using the custom search for "Replace TV"for a subject. It did take me to text entries with that subject in only this group. I am a member of several groups so that was important to me. I am still getting the broken link for the subfile, "Buying and Selling" under files.
