Other tire options? August 22, 2013, 04:16:04 pm Yahoo Message Number: 142160The tire shop just discovered they can't fulfill my order for new Michelins because they can't order any themselves. I was hoping to have them installed this weekend, now I have to act fast. I was given alternatives of Falken Wildpeak, Cooper Discoverer, BF Goodrich Commercial/Lt Truck or a Goodyear Wrangler SRA. While I'm looking into this, I was hoping the kind folks out there could provide some input. I've already read about Coopers & presume the same would go for the Falkens. I'm not so sure with the BF Goodrich or Goodyears.Thanks in advance for any input!Ray

Thanks in advance for any input!Ray If it were me, and I wanted Michelins and the dealer couldn't get them, I would find another dealer. Is there a reason they can't get them? If you were trying to get the original Michelin LTX M&S tire to fit a Ford chassis, it seems to be true that you can't get the original tire model, but you can get LTX M&S 2 models. Is that the issue?Steve K.

Is that the issue?Steve K. I ordered the M/S from the Sears website last week and now they can't seem to locate the ones I paid for. I've gotten a few stories on why they can't get Michelins including out of stock & a tire recall. I'm passing thru town to pick up the rig and am uneasy on driving the 300 miles home on older tires. Rather than risking the drive, I'm looking at options. Sears gave me the 4 I previously mentioned. Les Schwab has their Toyo 10 ply which at least has a 65k mile warranty. If possible, I'd rather not deal with Sears at all, and certainly won't in the future.Thanks - Ray

First, Les Schwab people are the best you will ever deal with. Second you get lifetime service and road hazard warrenty all free. Third the Toyo is a really good tire. You would be surprised how many LD owners have gone over to them, myself included. I doubt there is a better tire out there for wear and safety. JMO. YMMV. Tom

I just had to replace several tires while on the road and had no trouble getting Michelin LTX-MS/2's from a Michelin dealer in the middle of VA and from Discount Tire in Traverse City, MI. I really needed one of the tires in Knoxville, TN but neither a Michelin dealer or Discount Tire could get them immediately from the local distributor. The local distributor could get them from the regional distributor, which would take several days. I didn't want to wait so settled for an alternative tire. I was told that the problem was caused by two things: 1) The tires were in limited supply in some areas as a result of some limits on Michelin production; 2) The local distributor had significantly reduced his overall inventory (financial problems?) However, I have now driven my 6 new Michelin LTX-MS/2 tires about 3K miles (from VA to CA) and like them.
