Tongue weight capacity August 13, 2013, 10:39:16 am Yahoo Message Number: 141984Any idea how I can find the tongue weight capacity of the 2" receiver that came on my 1987 22' LD? The received is welded to the bumper and by looking at how the bumper is attached to the RV I'm not sure if it is really meant to take much load. I'm wanting to use a hitch mounted motorcycle carrier to carry a 350 lb dual-use motorcycle. The rack has a 400 lb capacity. http://www.harborfreight.com/400-lb-receiver-mount-motorcycle-carrier-99721.htmlThanks,

But even on newer rigs, I seem to recall a 350 lb limit. The rack in the given link uses a single receiver. IMHO, there is way too much possible torque from a motorcycle on that rack for the way LD mounts the receiver on the bumper. If it was me, I'd have two more receivers welded under the bumper and use a rack (custom?) that uses all three receivers to avoid the rotational torque and spread the loading across the bumper. Maybe Jon Calhoun(hounjonlon1) will reply to this thread about his Vespa rack. I'd recommend taking the rig to an experienced hitch shop and get their opinion. I'd say you want some reinforcement work done.Is a small motorcycle trailer an option?Art
