Propane Tank Clean Up July 30, 2013, 09:19:14 pm Yahoo Message Number: 141617After the recent discussions about rust at the bottom of the propane tanks on many LDs, I took a good look at ours. Not surprisingly, after 11-1/2 years and 116,000 miles we had some areas of rust and flaking paint. I got started scraping paint off before I decided that I should take photos to document this job. I put up a web page on our personal web account if anyone is interested. Unfortunately, there are no "before" pictures of the tank before the loose paint was scraped. http://www.berggreen.org/LD/propane.html Art

Then apply Jabsco Metal-Prep (green fluid in translucent bottle as Home Depot). This uses delute phosphoric acid to convert rust and then you can simply paint over it.bumper

Rustoleum gloss white? Other? Thanks for any details.Joan

Hi Joan, After scraping, sanding and wire brushing, I applied Rustoleum Rust Reformer, followed by Krylon flat white primer and then several light coats of Rustoleum Gloss White Protective Enamel.Art

I checked the tank underside a few months back and didn't see any rust or suspicious "lesions", but it's time to do it again.Joan
