@Don said "The Ford 460 is a lot easier to find in a LD, than a 22' with 454 (I've never seen one). I thought they were a myth like hunting snipe."
Well, it looks like another snipe is for sale. I was aimlessly browsing through the RV trader site when I came across this recent posting:
 http://www.rvtrader.com/listing/1991-Lazy-Daze-22-110185774

While fully expecting to see the engine type listed as a standard 350, you can imagine my surprise to see "454". For anyone who is interested, I can tell you two things from first-hand experience:

1. Parts are easy to find, and are very reasonably priced
2. The 454 on a 22' chassis drives like a car - that is, you can take off from lights, change lanes, merge, etc, without having to lay back and wait for traffic to pass.

On our recent trip to Zion/Grand Cyn via Las Vegas, our rig pulled the Baker grade @ 65-70mph. I was in the regular passenger slow lane, with trucks & RVs in the far right truck lane. At one point, I caught up to SOB who was dogging in the passenger slow lane, so I passed him on the right via the truck lane.

Looks like a nice, clean coach. If I were shopping in the $10,000 price range, I'd give it a serious look (assuming of course that it passed coach and chassis inspections).

I never realized the Twin King or I guess Rear Lounge came with barrel chairs. This could be an advantage with the TV over the sofa side. A fold up dinning table would need to be added. Must have been a reason why this floor plan was discontinued.

TV hookups are almost certainly on the table side, with TV to set between the chairs. Since most looking for this floorplan either don't want to sleep in the bunk, or fly more than 2, and thus want the separate sleeping areas. Thus the rear lounge found a more limited market than the TK, since the rear only makes into a double. In fact, it competes more directly with the FL, so there the choice is either the spacious lounge area with the great view and compact bath, or a VERY spacious lounge with a great bath - but a somewhat lesser view.

1990 through 1995 are also good years for Chevy chassis because they came with Gen V engines equipped with EFI. Even better, they were coupled to the 4L80E, which is a 4-speed OD transmission and has one of the all-time great reputations for trannies.*
If anyone recalls those long ago days, Chevy sold an 454SS truck from 91-93, which is why many of those performance attributes show up across their entire truck line (including G vans).
Also, because GM/Chevrolet sold an absolute crap-load of trucks & Suburbans on this particular chassis, it's practically trivial to source parts.
The 454/4L80E combination are reputed to achieve 250,000 miles on some vehicles. It really is some of the last heavy big block iron produced

Andy do you think it is really a 454? This one might be a typo, It doesn't have the stretched nose to accommodate the big block, like the 92-95 30' ib.

THIS option was still available in 2006 when we bought our TK.  We liked it, but declined when we were told it would eliminate the big driver's side outside storage bin which would otherwise lie under the second TK sofa.  That was too much storage to lose, so we opted for the dual couches.  As for the dining table, the pictures show the fold-up-down table on the cabinet between the barrel chairs.  If that was large enough for two to use, no additional table would be required.  It would be a little narrow for us to use for eating.  I agree with Andy:  cosmetically (and the list of replaced items), this looks terrific;  if it held up to the Larry W inspection, it would be a great buy.  -- Jon ('06TK "Albatross")

I have no way of knowing for sure, since I have no experience with the 454s. Sounds as if Regan has the answer.

The 'stretched nose' model you are referring to is not a G series van. It is a special P series with a cab for the longer coaches. I.e., it is basically a class-A chassis with a cab.

as I recall on my '92 22RB it was NOT stretched out either, I loved the power of that 454.
