fuel pump access waterproof hatch March 18, 2013, 10:59:47 pm Yahoo Message Number: 137516Installing a fuelpump access door should not be difficult. Saber saw and a drill/driver. The 11 x15 inch size should be about right. Buy the liner and trim it to the floor depth and seal it all around. It would be nice to see An LD being built and see if any water or electrical lines need to be moved. Any takers for this project? You could cary the door, pump, liner and saber saw and drill and only do it if you needed to.
Re: fuel pump access waterproof hatch Reply #2 – March 19, 2013, 02:23:50 am Yahoo Message Number: 137521I see a few problems with this plan. First you are very likely will cut though structural cross members. Next is locating the actual location of the pump without dropping the tank or cutting an oversize hole...good luck with this. Nest is resealing the hole top and bottom. Since you will not be able to access the bottom of the floor, it cannot be easily sealed, nor will you be able to see if it has been properly sealed. Hey, what's a little rot? My suggestion is to do it the right way, drop the tank, install a new pump and reinstall the tank. Any other way is bound to cause unforeseen problems. I doubt if the Mothership would approve of cutting an access hole for the same reasons.Larry
