Water Leak
Yahoo Message Number: 137242
We are in Tucson, AZ visiting family, and had hoped to travel on to Arkansas to see more family. We have an '06 front lounge and have a water leak. Water is dripping through the hole in the floor under the fresh water tank that the tank drain passes through. On our model the water heater, water pump and furnace are all under the wardrobe between the fresh water tank and the refrigerator. The only place I can see any moisture is in the tunnel where the water pipes go under the floor, but it does not look like enough to cause all that dripping. This is our first trip since having new carpet installed, so there is a chance that pipes were damaged in the tunnel under the floor, but the water pump does not recycle to resupply pressure. We called Vince and he suggested heading back to the Mothership where they could correctly diagnose and correct the problem, and cautioned us not to have someone just start cutting hoses. Any suggestions? Gary and Lenore Silver Lining

In all my experience(s) to date with water links, and there have been 8 instances so far, whereas 7 times it was a seal (or fastener). Now, my situation may be unique since we were bringing a 20 y.o. RV back to prime operating condition, and many seals had become dried over time.
Still, that's a pretty good basis in which to start searching - here they are:

1. City water - replaced degraded seal on T check valve that was causing minor leak on exterior
2. City water - blew out notorious 'collar' on T valve months after #1
3. Kitchen sink - degraded O ring causing minor water leak around base
4. Replaced entire sink - new seals on H/C pressure connectors to stop minor leaks
5. Bathroom sink - degraded O ring causing minor leak around base
6. Replaced entire sink - new seals on H/C pressure connectors to stop minor leaks
7. Water pump - new seal @ city water T that was dripping and causing carpet to become slightly damp
8. After leak @ #7 was resolved, the pump itself began to leak - replaced entire unit

We haven't had a water leak since these events, but if there ever is, I would first start looking @ connections. It could be possible a line was actually cut, but then you'd be looking @ a flood situation, not just a leak.

That is a good point about flood / leak. We were thinking it may be a staple that just punctured a line.  We have a RV repair guy coming out in the morning and if he can't figure it out I guess we will have to drive back.

We will definitely have all the seals checked.
Thank you Lenore and Gary

Have your repair guy look at the tank vent hose that connects to the filler door also. Ours came off and dropped down inside wall. Every time we filled up excess water sloshed out and in the walls. Vince put a new door on as well as fixed some water damage under the tank.

One test I recommend is to de-pressurize the plumbing by turning off the pump and briefly opening a faucet. Leave it thus to see if the dripping slows or stops. If NOT, leakage likely before the pump, else after.
If the tank or low-side plumbing is indicated, I would suggest you disassemble the couch platform to gain tank access. If the water is not leaking from the tank, you should be able to see where it is draining into that compartment. The EMPTY tank is very light, if removal is necessary. It might pay to remove the sealant around the drain pipe where it passes through the outside compartment, so you can see if it is loose where it fits into the tank. Reseal with 3M 5200 when the problem is resolved.
Note that if water collects in the floor pass-thru, it might drain to where you see the drippage, even if the flooring seems dry.

Thanks Steve. Did the de-pressure test. Drip stops when no pressure. Water pump is cycling on frequently when left on, indicating a leak after pump. Had a local mobile RV repairman look at it this morning. He thinks leak is in tunnel under floor. We are aborting our plans and heading to the mothership. Have an appointment next week. Will let the group know what they find.

We are at the Mother Ship now having Vince fix the leak.  As it turns out when we had the carpet installed just before this trip, they drove 1 3/4 inch nails into the tac strip. This punctured the water pipe. Glad we turned around and had Vince work on it.
The floor is still in good shape as the water drained to the outside compartment.
If any one that is going to the Morro Bay campout wants us to pick up anything from the Mother Ship please email me and I will be happy to bring it to MB.
Thanks to everyone for your input Lenore and Gary 23.5 FL Silver Lining 06

AAAAACCKKK! I hope you'll be letting them know what a boneheaded stunt they pulled.

Pick up colors?

You might consider asking Larry if he would like one quart each of the blue primary colors (or perhaps others as well). LD only ships 1 oz touch-up bottles, and Cardinal only sells by the gallon. LD offers 1 qrt containers, but you have to physically pick them up from the MS.
Using a Preval sprayer (http://www.amazon.com/Preval-16-Ounce-Paint-Sprayer-267/dp/B0000AY19M), and 3-4 oz of paint will provide enough coverage for around 4-6sf. I used 2oz (from 2 separate touch up bottles from LD) to re-paint the entire top of the rear bumper. Here's what it looks like:

Did you combine the two parts in the sprayer? How smooth did the job compare to the original?
Four years ago I tried one of the spray cans and ended up with a lousy finish.

I believe the pre-mixed rattle spray cans offered by LD are/were lacquer, as are all/most rattle can paints found @ hardware stores.
I really have no idea, other than my informal knowledge of paint types. That is, I know when you mix 2-part Cardinal polyurethane, you need to use the paint @ that point due to polymerization. So, like fiberglass, it "goes off" (hardens), making timing critical.
If that's the case ie it was lacquer, then there's no wonder the color match/texture didn't look right. That's because the factory base colors are Cardinal 2-part polyurethane. (The white should be a standard Ford color - it is for my '93 Chevy ie GM 'polar white'.)

OK, so back to Cardinal. If you get the actual 2-part poly
