Y'all, I am seeking some suggestions as to a pretty/peaceful rendevous point in Colorado or Wyoming when we can meet family from Florida who are traveling a loop in a car.

Does anyone have a favorite  "hidden away" spot?

Hi Steve.
Don't know how willing you are to be this hidden but look up Green River Lakes outside of Pinedale, Wy. at the end of Wy. Hwy. 352. There is about 25 miles of dirt road to get back there but it sure is worth the effort. There is a forest service campground there, it is the headwaters of the Green River and you won't find a more pretty/peaceful spot. Pinedale has most of the amenities you need so stock up there.
The Wind River range is my favorite place in the world, often overlooked as it is close enough to the Tetons and the national parks there but without the hassles and crowds.

Steve,
There are two places in CO that I considered my hidden jewels.  I wrote up reviews to both places in the campground database section.  Those places are Bellaire Lake and Jacks Gulch. Bellaire would be my choice of the two because of the lake. I have never seen either campground full, even on holiday weekends.  But they are both very nice quiet places.

Good luck,

If the folks in the car are going to need accommodations you might consider Estes Park, which is just outside the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. There are RV parks in the RMNP or commercial RV parks just outside the park also in Estes Park.

I would also second Estes Park for RMNP, but also suggest should you want to be somewhere else that's not so RMNP-specific, there is a very very nice KOA in Fort Collins, CO. Fort Collins is a nice little university town with a good vibe.
This summer we are headed, generally speaking and not on a direct here-there path, to Laramie WY for a family gathering. When in the Laramie area we'll be headed to Woods Landing Resort near Jelm...that is about 27 miles SW of Laramie and while I've never been there, I've been told it's a nice spot...it appears to be rustic and quiet.

One good resource is The Ultimate US Public Campground Project .  It lists over 16,900 public campgrounds of all types in the Lower 48: national parks, US Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Corp of Engineers, state parks, county, municipal and utility company parks. You can view locations on a state by state map, zoom in for better resolution and click on each location for added information.
