Under the hood, In fine yellow print, on the black bar across the top of the radiator, Ford mentions the fuel pump shut off switch. The switch is located above the passengers right foot and can be accessed from inside. It is a collision activated switch to shut off the fuel pump in an accident. Sometimes it is called a 'rollover' switch. Through hearsay people have mentioned that even slamming the door can shut it off. It is either on or off, so the symptom of hard starting the one time doesn't indicate this switch. You probably need a new fuel pump, but you should still check the quick, easy and cheap stuff first.
