eBay LD's - one I have examined
Yahoo Message Number: 136289
I have also looked with interest at the Philadelphia LD for sale on eBay.  Looks good in pictures but I agree with all the observations on a rig that has set idle for long periods.

Here is another for discussion:

My wife and I have personally inspected this rig.  The pictures and description make it look very attractive, but:
 * the paint is very oxidized - it has been stored outside (the pictures don't clearly show this) * no picture of the water heater - all of the metal parts are BADLY corroded, probably from salt air near the ocean (this was a CA-based rig) * there is a stress crack that runs vertically from the roof directly to the top center of the entrance door.  Hmmm.
* the wheel skirts all have multiple stress cracks in the metal at the hinge margins * the wheel skirt seals are oxidized and whitened * some of the storage compartment seals are loose and hanging
The interior of this rig shows very well.  No obvious signs of distress or water leaks.  We did not climb to the roof.  9000+ miles seems attractive but we are back to the damage that can occur from inactivity.  As I recall, the genset on this rig was in the 70+ hour range.
The price that we were offered on this rig was way too high.  The dealer reported it was bought at auction, which seems to be another red flag.
However - we are about to go from wannabes to owners next week.  We are buying a LD that we have only seen in pictures, but the sale will not be complete until it has passed my in-person inspection.
IMHO, eBay sales that have not been personally inspected are fraught with risk.

Cheers, Dan
