Interesting note on towing the 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid November 09, 2012, 06:52:24 pm Yahoo Message Number: 134999I have been doing some researching into the purchase of a 2013 Ford Fusion Plug-In Hybrid next year when they are available. I would use it mostly at home in Florida and not for towing. However, when reading the brochure, the last page had a note that the stated: "Fusion Hybrid may be flat-towed (four-wheel-down towing) behind another vehicle, such as an RV." I would assume that the Plug-In also qualifies for flat towing as it has the same drive train. Fusion gas-only vehicles are not flat-towable. I wonder if towing would also charge the onboard lithium-ion battery pack? Probably not. Interesting concept though. Mike

I had the Motor Home listing of tow-ables. One make *I think it was Hyundai but am not sure) was listed as flat tow-able, and the dealer confirmed that. I went to look at one and opened the owner's manual. It confirmed that the car could be towed, as behind a motor home, with 4 wheels down, but placed limits - no farther than 15 miles and no faster than 15 mph. I told the salesman that it would take a LONG time to get from NJ to Oregon that way. Moral - insist on reading the owner's manual about towing before believing that it will be ok.Ken F in NM

With enough programming it could only pull power while holding things back. (Braking)Interesting concept though. Garry
Interesting note on towing the 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid - the towing Reply #3 – November 11, 2012, 06:56:13 am Yahoo Message Number: 135045QuoteOn Nov 10, 2012, at 8:39 AM, Kenneth Fears wrote:Be careful.- insist on reading the owner's manual about towing before believing that it will be ok.Ken F in NM Ken,I found the restriction placed on towing the 2013 Fusion Hybrid. They are: #1- Start the engine and allow it to run for five (5) minutes at the beginning of each day and every six (6) hours thereafter. #2- Maximum towing speed with the hybrid transmission is 70 MPH. This is somewhat similar to the restrictions on my Honda CRV. _[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

BTW Kathy and I really enjoyed you and Elizabeth taking us along on your great tour this year. Your great photos and comments were great and entertaining. We have visited many of the places you two visited this year but you did point out a few we missed, so we're planning another trip to cover those areas. {:>)Hope to see you at Jekyll Island in the Spring.Bob and Kathy SE 5Bob, Glad you enjoyed our travel E-messages. It was a great 11K-mile western trip. BTW, we are finally going to go see the spectacular 23rd Holiday Festival of Lights at James Island County Park & Campground, Charleston, SC in early December (we arrive Dec.2). The entire three mile park loop road and walking trails will have lighted displays (See below link). Guess I'll have to warm up the camera again. Charleston is great to tour any time and particularly during the Christmas season. Mikehttp://www.ccprc.com/index.aspx?nid=1546[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
