This one's for you, Andy.
A near zero-cost way to use your camera's pop-up flash to light macro subjects. As promised, it will (should) fit in your fanny pack or a shirt pocket
Since I don't have actual measurements of your new cam, I had to do some estimating by measuring from on-screen product shots.
Here's the direct link to the details along with test images including  an actual flash burst light dispersion test and real world images of selected "littlies".

I'm sure you'll have questions and that there some things I forgot to cover but we can go in to any aspect of it you like either off-line or public as you think best for the group. If you'd like to talk in person, I'll give you my cell number 'cause, frankly, I love this stuff.

George

Fantastic! Now I have to go out and buy some foam plates. :-)

I'm glad you like it, Andy.
I'll send you some plates if you don't want to buy a full pack. :-)))
Using the combination of the gizmo and your flash will allow my favorite macro cam settings too. Auto focus, auto exposure

I re-read my post and decided to add a CAUTION to it although it is pretty obvious:
"One Caution: You definitely want the hole sized to allow the styro to slip off the lens barrel easily if barrel retracts with it

Thanks George I like this and will make this for my cameras. I think I will be able to get rid of a lot of extension tubes, adapter rings, reversing lens, macro rings, cameras, macro lens, slave flashes, etc., that I have used to take pictures of spiders.
Probably $500 worth of camera gear for the price of a few styro plates :)

Do you know about this for Canon cameras:

your SD-630 is supported and with the SD card inserted you can take pics of lighting (shutter speed of 1/1,000,000) and I assume flint strikes.
Not as hard as it seems to program the SD card, I did it once for motion detection pictures.

I made a PDF of your web page but not sure if attachments are allowed on this forum, I could email it to you if you like
I like the moon shot in the spider eyes. One picture does not come through.

"I'll send you some plates if you don't want to buy a full pack."
Thanks, but it'd probably cost more to ship them than for me to buy them. Anyway, it looks to me as if with a suitably sized plate, you could cut the necessary four pieces from a single plate... no?

This will replace the slave flash. But all the other gear is still needed to let your camera focus close in the first place. (OK, George, tell me you made a +5 diopter lens from a Coke bottle. ;-)
