weatherstrip on door

I just went looking for weather stripping. The door  measured about 1/2" on the sides but both Lowes and HD had either 3/4" or 3/8" so I got both. I think I will still try to find 1/2" or will the other work? And how does one get the old weather stripping off the easy way? I only need to do one half of the door and on the bottom (which is all the way off). Thanks for any ideas on doing it the easy way.

It's unusual to have the weatherstripping go bad on such a new LD.
It it damaged, pulled off or just not sealing?
Many coach doors do not seal well and have slight bends that prevent the weatherstripping from touching or compressing. Bending and adjusting the upper door frame is the cure for this problem.
