My wife and I live in the Philadelphia PA suburbs and we are thinking about buying a class C. I have had sailboats, and a couple of VW campers, but never owned or maintained a motorhome. We are interested in frequent weekend trips, and an annual extended 2 week trip. This would likely change to frequent extended 1- 3 month trips beginning in a few years. It is just the two of us and our two dogs.
 I understand the importance of being able to obtain service from a trusted RV mechanic. Before I further explore a purchase, has anyone had good experiences or heard good things about Philadelphia / South Jersey mechanics and could make a recommendation?  I was unable to find any in the database files.
 We would be very interested in purchasing a good used Lazy Daze - so if you know of one, please let me know.
 I will be reading FAQs from the Lazy Daze site before I ask too many questions here.

 As far as the chassis goes service can be obtained from the manufacturer (Ford). As far as the appliances in the coach goes, service is available nationwide from those manufacturers representatives. That leaves the coach body itself. If you cannot travel to the Mothership in Montclair, CA there are many RV repair facilities across the country and the LD factory will work with them.

 There are two recommendations for Philadelphia facilities in the "Maintenance/Installation Facilities" data base on the Yahoo LD web site:

The one for Berks Mont Camping Center might be worth checking out for maintenance, or you might try to contact the original poster smile138 for further recommendations.
 If you find a facility you like, you might post it in the data base to help others.

To add to what Steve said: the Ford E450 chassis is very widely used, and most mechanics can deal with anything that goes wrong with it. RV appliances, as Steve said, are standard--Dometic refrigerators, DuoTherm air conditioners, SeaLand toilets, Magic Chef stoves, Suburban furnaces, Onan  generators, SHURflo water pumps and Atwood water heaters are used in dozens of RV brands. Any RV shop will be able to repair or replace these as necessary.
 As for the coach body--the part that Lazy Daze builds--it's unlikely that you'll need service, unless you end up with an older unit that has damage due to leaks... and our inspection tip sheets can help you avoid that.
 In practice, our many members in the east have found that they can get whatever service they need done locally, with no need to travel to California. I've owned two Lazy Dazes, both used--a 1985 and a 2003--and have never needed service from the LD factory.

 Fretz's RV in Souderton does the work on our Lazy Daze, that is "inside" related: the fridge, ac, things like that. They tend to take, or at least give preference to, rvs that were bought from them, but when we explained that Lazy Daze had no dealers, they were great.
And, they do nice work.
 Our own mechanic does our maintenance work and any other work that he can for us. There are a few things he can't do, because his facility is too small. Then, we go to our local Ford dealer.
 And, there is a truck repair shop right beside Fretz's who we get new tires from.

That's as  close to Philadelphia as we get.
