LED "puck" lights vs. particleboard! March 16, 2012, 04:07:31 pm Yahoo Message Number: 129172Just a FYI.... I bought a 3-pack of LED "Rite Lites" at OSH; the lights are good, but the "sticky back" does not adhere to a particleboard surface, at least if the light is placed on the underside of a shelf. Twice the light has fallen on to the closet floor - sticky side down, of course - and is now sporting assorted "gubbins". The adhesive itself was plenty strong, and would hold well on surface other than particleboard.YMMV.Joan

I think I would mix a little epoxy and spread it on to make a smooth, tight surface. Once it cures, the adhesive should bond well to it. Other options include an enamel or a varnish, good choices because they would penetrate into the particle board and would have a smooth surface. Sand the surface smooth first, then apply several coats.Ken F in NM
