"Camp chair" suggestions? February 29, 2012, 10:28:19 am Yahoo Message Number: 128872Can anyone recommend a camp chair (*other than* "Strongback"; long story) that fits the criteria of high quality construction and materials, comfort, and at least a little back support (I know that that is a YMMV thing, butt..... ;-)!), lightweight (10-12 pounds), compacts into a conveniently-sized package, either to fold flat or to "bag" and strap on the ladder? I currently have an old Lallemand fold-flat; it's great, but it's starting to show wear and the company has been out of business for a long time. The Lafuma Elips looks similar; anyone have one of these? Thanks for any input!JoanP.S. The local Costcos have *no* in-store camp chairs at this time.

JC, If you want a chair that is utilitarian in purpose with great comfort- go with Costco's Director's chair with side table. They cost about 27 dollars each. The side table has a cup holder in it for that cold beer or soda you have --or the hot tea or cocoa you brought out to sit by the fire with.Donna of Lazy Daizy 1997 LD RB 26.5' Vaughn, WA

Re: "Camp chair" suggestions? Reply #6 – February 29, 2012, 11:42:48 am Yahoo Message Number: 128881That's too bad. Last summer, we bought two camping chairs (not recliners) at Costco for something like $20 per. Here's the ones we have: http://timberridgegear.com/trf001.htmlYou might be able to find them online somewhere. I find them to be very comfortable.Linda Hylton http://earl-linda.blogspot.com

Reply #8 – February 29, 2012, 12:09:32 pm Yahoo Message Number: 128885Hi Joan,We recently picked up two of these from Camping World.http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/copper-canyon-folding-chair/47578> We haven't had them long enough to test how rugged they are, but so far we've been happy with them. They had to fold flat enough to go into a compartment with only a few inches of vertical clearance.Art

They are extremely compact and for me, an excellent option as they support my back where it needs it. Not the tallest of chairs though. Seems you are in between my height and Lydia's so would most likely work. If you can wait til Morro Bay, you are welcome to try one. They are pricey yet........Robin

I can spend several hours in it without any problems. It's a rocking chair too but its used rarely for that purpose. I'm on my second chair. My wife has one too. It doesn't fold up into a tiny package but that's not important to me as I like comfort first. It folds flat and I keep it in the rear driver's side outside compartment (27' MB). It won't fit anyplace else so think about that first if you consider it.I had a Strongback chair and sent it back.Bob As an Amazon Associate Lazy Daze Owners' Group earns from qualifying purchases.

Re: "Camp chair" suggestions? Reply #13 – February 29, 2012, 11:39:20 pm Yahoo Message Number: 128900Yes and almost twice the Costco price. I have seen these still in the 922 zip Costcos. Of course at $5 per gal of gas the Amazon.com price is probably better.--"I love the infantry because they are the underdogs. They are the mud-rain-frost-and-wind boys. But it has some attributes that, depending on your priorities, may make it worthwhile: Light weight, strong, comfortable back support, folds to an amazingly small, compact size . . . one looking at the satchel size package would hardly expect a chair at all. My primary needs, besides comfort of course, were the light weight and compact size as I take it camping in my Husky aircraft. Those same features make Pico storage a non-issue in the LD - - if the budget allowed, you could carry enough of them to outfit a good ol' Southern revival.bumper[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Re: "Camp chair" suggestions? Reply #16 – March 01, 2012, 04:49:05 pm Yahoo Message Number: 128915Joan Whatever chair you do buy, make sure to spend some quality time sitting in it before buying. To me, few chairs fit right, especially the ones that fold up and store in a bag. Look for chair that the back and seat are one continuous piece of fabric so cold winds are blocked from hitting your mid-back.We bought the last set of chairs at Costco, the MacCabee brand. Costco sell chairs, and other camping gear, seasonally so checking with them often, this time of year, is recommended. They may sell chairs for only a couple of weeks. You better get moving on this, the Yahoo GTG is only three weeks away.Larry
