Plumbing upgrades and repairs?

Do any of you do upgrades in the tubing for your plumbing in your Lazy Daze...???  This is something that I an a little timid to do on my own for fear of messing it up.  I have been reading online that the Pex tubing for rv's is the best way to go and most durable.  Is it just something that should be brought in and done professinally or should we be able to do it on our own?

In my LD we have PEX water plumbing. It is simple with the right tools. In some cases the more expensive fittings are indispensable because they are easily reused were the barb and ring fittings tend to be a one time use and definetly causes the pipe to shorten when changes are made or mistakes happen.
The easiest thing I can tell you is to go to the large hardware stores and ask questions of the plumbing guys until you are satisfied.
My Toy had a different type of Plastic plumbing. It wasn't PEX. Those are still available but an independent hardware store would probably have those. The sharkbite quick connectors did work on those pipes. That got our leaky water tank problems fixed otherwise we were in deep with the strange drain valves Winnebago placed there.

Good luck Lydia

James, PEX is great stuff to put in an RV.  That having been said, if you have the walls apart so that the plumbing is accessible, replace it.  I would not open up the walls just to replace the older stuff with PEX.  IMHO, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Older models (such as our '83) used polybutylene tubing and fittings, which is gray plastic. Never had a problem with the tubing, but due to stress fractures, the plastic flare fittings have now all been replaced with brass.
