We've owned 2 Lazy Daze's (MB & RB) and 2 Foretravel's (36ft and 40ft).
About the only thing I could add to Mike's fine posting is mpg.  For our current 450hp 40 footer, lifetime (100,000+ miles so far)  mpg is 8.5 and we regularly better that, even towing our Honda Element (so total weight is 34,000 lbs).  Certainly, if/when we downsize again we'd get a used RB. We would not even consider another RV brand.
The feature I missed the most in downsizing was the Foretravel's retarder (acts like a "Jake brake" but is a bolt-on to the transmission) that does most of the braking.  The thing I wouldn't miss is the higher maintenance cost of a DP.

best, paul

Thank you Mike, that was very informative and exactly the type of

information I was looking for. Its not very often one would have the opportunity to talk with someone like you that has had a class A similar to ours and also owned both LD and BF to compare...priceless!

How's that new coach? "Tow/Haul"

Paul, the "Tow/Haul" feature on the Ford transmission in a way acts as an automatic down-shifter when activated. The initial application of the foot brake activates the feature and is very helpful on long down-grades. I leave the T/H turned on most of the time while pulling the CRV. I have noticed NO change in fuel mileage while in use. In addition the T/H feature ups the RPM at the up-shift points to minimumize strain on the transmission.
