A lot of people follow the Tioga George blog http://blog.vagabonders-supreme.net/ and may have noticed that on two separate occasions recently, thieves attempted to break into his motorhome at night while he was inside sleeping.
In both cases they entered by opening a locked cab door. A very easy task for any thief worthy of the name.
There is a very easy and low cost solution that will make such entry difficult.
The armrest has a hole through it, at least on my LD. Much like a donut hole.  On the passenger side, tie a length of rope to the armrest. Tuck it into the door pocket during the day. At night, stretch the rope across the cab and tie it to the armrest on that side. The two doors are now tied together. The cab door can still be pulled open from the outside but not nearly enough to allow a person to enter the cab. The disturbance as the rope is pulled should be enough to wake you. If you're a heavy sleeper, simply attach a cow bell to the rope. Now the pulling will ring the bell.
A more sophisticated approach would be to get a ratchet type device with a nylon strap attached, much like is used to tie down a load on a truck. Use that to secure the doors.
If you're into electronics and like tinkering, it would be easy to devise an alarm that would be activated when a pin is pulled out of the alarm. Much like a hand grenade but not quite so destructive.
For us it's not an issue. Six years ago we invested in a "whole house" security system named Gopher. She will bite the hand off anyone dumb enough to stick it inside.

Ed, good tip worth considering.  BTW, I believe the first attempted robbery of George was through an unlocked door.  The movement in the coach woke him up.  I think George is finding this coast of Mexico not to be as secure as Baja Callifornia.

Haha..Ed,
You get anywhere NEAR your rig.... At Benson I was about 10 feet from the back bumper of your rig and forgot Gopher was there....she reminded me!!  You never have to worry with the sweet Gopher aboard!

After purchasing our second LD, 2004 RB my first stop was Fairway Ford in Placentia Ca. Talked to Robert at the RV office and had them add a Ford factory alarm to our coach.
For the price of a couple tanks of fuel we were able to have security full time when away from the LD.
Reno in Yorba Linda CA.
