Scales in San Francisco Bay Area November 30, 2011, 11:31:06 am Yahoo Message Number: 127002I tried to get weighted at the the Pilot station in Salinas and Garlic Factory Truck Stop in Gilroy. Neither would allow me to get the weights according to the instructions in the FAQ's. It was either weigh the front and back axles or nothing, no right side then left side, etc. Any suggestions for places to go in the SF Bay area that have been cooperative in getting weighted? Thanks. If not, Southern CA for our next trip? Thanks.Steve Holmstrom 30ft Teal IB
Re: Scales in San Francisco Bay Area Reply #1 – November 30, 2011, 11:45:00 am Yahoo Message Number: 127004Steve..If you happen to drive into Southern Oregon on the 101, they have a handful of scales that are unmanned and available 24x7.. I weighed our rig on the way up to my mothers place in Newport OR last week -- I only weighed the axles in total though (front and rear) but did not do the left/right on our '85.. (for those of you wondering our '85 multiplan came in at 4k front axle, and I think something like 6350 rear axle for a lightly loaded (with people) RV).Below is a list of Scales in Oregon (74 of them): http://www.coopsareopen.com/oregon-weigh-stations.htmlHope that helps!

All you need in order to determine correct tire pressures (and to know whether you're within the chassis's permitted maximum weight rating) is axle-by-axle weights. All tires on a given axle should be inflated to the same pressure, as recommended by the tire manufacturer based on that axle's load. In short, the truckstop scales you tried will give you the information you need.Andy Baird http://www.andybaird.com/travels/

Unless you have done something like stack a month's supply of beverages only on one side, you will find the side-to-side weights to be within 100 pounds. A commercial scale might charge you twice for this type of weighing. A moving company might be amiable to helping you out.

Rick If you're in southern Oregon the best bet would be Henderson's Line-Up in Grants Pass. They will do a four point weigh and provide you with the readout as well.Steve S. Lazy Bones & Jiggs

They have a scale and may accommodate your needs. Here's a link with their contact info and address. http://www.dassels.com/contact-us/

The scales are unattended, and you can weigh whatever you want to, however you want to.Dick From: lifewithalazydazerv@yahoogroups.com [mailto:lifewithalazydazerv@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of Robert Britton Sent: Thursday, December 01, 2011 12:22 AM To: lifewithalazydazerv@yahoogroups.com Subject: [LD] Re: Scales
