Anyone ever remove the framing for the rear couch on a '85 (or so) M

So, to bring you all up to speed on my current project, I've got the wall open on the passenger rear side below the large sliding window to replace some wood that is dry-rotted and another piece that is termite eaten (now dead) -- I've removed the ledge mounted to the wall -- what a pain -- it was screwed in on both ends from both the fridge compartment and also the rear tire area (probably hidden)  -- needless to say it did NOT come off in one piece which is OK since I plan to rebuild it..  Anyway, I'm temped to remove the framing that is now exposed and which makes up the large storage compartment so I can replace all of the plywood down there, but am concerned that the framing down there may be equally attached from the outside from behind the sheet metal like the shelf was.  Has anyone removed this framing and provide some insight as to how it was attached to the studs?

You can get an idea of my current project with photos here :

If anyone has information on that framing that you can pass along, that would be greatly appreciated..  I've got replacement panelling I'm hoping to re-install tomorrow if I get things back together -- and no, it's not the factory material -- I'm using 1/8" maple sheeting that we picked out which will be stained and polyurethane'd afterwards -- with a completely different look -- should be much lighter.

Nevermind.. I decided not to remove the couch framing -- I'll just work around it.  I'm hoping to finish it up next weekend -- today got all of the demo out of the way for the most part.  I put some more photos on the blog (below) if anyone is interested..
