A pretty good buy on a couple of pelonis heaters at participating Ace hardwares until 10/31. In the past LDers seemed to like this brand.

600/900/1500 watt, thermostat auto off, heater fan,    $12.99

ceramic heater, 1000/1500 watt     $21.99

Just thought I would pass this on. If you don't have a cube heater, this is an economical way to go.

I recommend the first one (600/900/1500 watt, $12.99). It's less likely to clog with dust and pet hair than a ceramic heater... and equally important, the 600W setting means you will be able to run two of these simultaneously on the same 15A circuit, which you won't be able to do with the ceramic heater. I recommend getting two for better heat distribution--see previous discussion. :-)

Per Andy's suggestion I purchased 2 of the Pelonis Heaters Model HF-0003.  I did some testing and I would highly reccommend this heater.  You can read a short review of the heater at http://jimbosjourneys.com/2011/10/23/getting-ready-for-winter-in-northern-nevada/

I just picked up 2 of these heaters per Andy's suggestion.  I am headed to Fernley, NV to workamp for Amazon.  I am sure it will get cold up there.
I already have a Wave 3 attached to a 10' gas line so I can move it around in my rig.  I figured that the additional heat from the Pelonis heaters would keep my LD very comfortable during the cold days and nights.
I tested out the Pelonis Heater and it works great.  It is very compact and has 3 power settings - 600 (6amps), 900 (8amps) and 1500 (10 amps)watts with the thermostat control set at medium.  I ran it on the 600 watts to test it out.  It puts out a great deal of heat (almost too much) and is extremely quiet.  I have heard complaints from people that purchased the cheap Walmart heater that it sounds like a train.  Not the Pelonis.  You hardly know it is running at all.
I would highly recommend it to anyone needing a heater for the winter.

The Pelonis HF-0003 that Jim refers to here has gone back up to $19.99 at Ace Hardware. But there's good news for those who missed the $12.99 deal at Ace: Walmart has a $14.74 Pelonis heater (model number HF-0020T) that functions identically to the one Ace was selling. The only difference is that the Pelonis at Walmart is in a more squared-off case.
Karen Zins and I bought one of each today, and compared them side by side. Performance was identical: both Pelonises have three heat settings (600/900/1,500 watts), so that you can run two at once on a single 15 amp circuit, both put out plenty of heat, and both are exceptionally quiet. And they have open, wire-coil construction that doesn't get clogged with dust and pet hair, unlike expensive ceramic heaters. Highly recommended!
