87 22' TK lazy daze in Phelan CA October 22, 2007, 12:56:39 pm Yahoo Message Number: 84831I'm shopping for a 22' TK and there is one at RVTrader.com listed for $6K. Has anyone looked at it or seen it. I hate to drive 4 hours if it's a mess, but if it's decent mechanical condition I can put lots of love into it. I looked at the CARFAX and it hasn't been driven but 400 miles since 2001, so I wonder... Anyone located near Victorville/Phelan who can help out? I'll trade some fresh, delicioius coffeebeans or tea for your help. Thanks much, Coffeediva1 in SLO/ Oceano

Hi from SLO!Frankly, that 400 miles in 6 years would worry me more than almost anything else. That's essentially NOT being driven for years and years! I can't help you by going and looking, but I would be very leery of a car or RV that had sat basically undriven for so long. IMO it would be worth your while to wait for a slightly newer model, or one of that age that had been used regularly through the years. Good luck...your unit will come along! :-)Sonsie

An RV that just sits and is not driven and maintained, especially for 6 years (!), is bound to have problems, some of which will likely be *very* expensive to repair. And, some of these problems may well be hidden from a casual inspection; just looking at a motorhome, unless the "looker" is very experienced with *what* to look for (and/or has X-ray vision), won't necessarily reveal enough information on the *real* condition of the rig for a prospective buyer to make a wise decision.IMO, anyone considering buying a rig of this age and background should hire a mechanic familiar with the engine and chassis (and an RV tech, if possible) to check everything out before making a decision. It's not cheap to go this route, but seeing the rig "up close and personal" and having a professional inspection done before making a commitment could save one thousands of dollars and a whole lot of grief! YMMV.Joan

Reply #6 – October 24, 2007, 02:38:29 pm Yahoo Message Number: 84925Hi Joan, Yes, I saw it and it's a nice rig in good shape, only it has the two chairs and sofa in back and we really feel it's worth holding out for a twin king (2 sofas) in back, since so far as i know it's well-nigh impossible to convert the 2 barrel chairs into a fold out sofa. Thanks for the heads up. Anyone who's looking, this is a well-loved rig. There's also a super nice rear lounge, 86 or 87, with all the bells and whistles (generator, solar, etc) in San Diego for 10K. Super nice and excellently maintained. I have the owners name and # if anyone's interested. Wish I loved the barrel chairs but I don't. -- Camille
Re: 87 22' TK lazy daze in Phelan CA Reply #7 – July 30, 2019, 01:06:35 pm Funny looking through these old posts, I can be pretty sure my dad bought this same RV for $5000.00 and now it's mine in 2019.He really enjoyed it. He kept up with all maintenance and never broke down driving it from Nevada to California. It is still a nice coach fully contained, minor repairs due to age things do wear out, like regulators, but all in all everything still works and the engine" chev 350" always passes smog and is still strong and dependable. I would not sell it even today for less than $5000.00 even though it is 32 years old. Lazy Daze is a well made coach. 3 Likes
