Holding tank water leak? December 27, 2010, 02:15:24 pm Yahoo Message Number: 119228I am an original owner of 2002MB from Florida. My fresh water tank levels have been slowly dropping with out significant water usage. Then I found that the storage compartment beneath the refrigerator was full of water, so I wet vacumed it out and it is staying dry. However, I noticed water dripping from beneath the outside shower and in a location uner where the stove is located. Unfortunately, the tanks are insulated so I cannot tell the exact location of the leak. My questions are: Could there be a leak in the tank? Or, is it possible the original water pump needs to be replaced? Or, is it possible the plumbing may be leaking even with the water pump off? Should I remove the tank insulation and try to repair the leak, or should I replace the tank completely? Any help will be greatly appreciated.Thanks, KW2002MB

Kevin, you or someone is going to need to find the source of the leak. I would think the tank is the least likely source of a problem. Time to get on the floor and look around the pump and it's fittings.

As to the tank being "insulated", I seriously doubt that. As far as I know, all Lazy Daze 'fresh' water tanks are located on the interior of the coach and would not require insulation. The only insulation option of which I'm aware is for the black and grey water tanks which are mounted on the exterior. You need to locate and inspect your fresh water tank for leaks and then look at your water pump for same.Good luck!Steve S. Lazy Bones & Jiggs

Reply #5 – December 27, 2010, 08:12:58 pm Yahoo Message Number: 119233On a MB, some of the key areas to check are in 1 place (fresh water tank outlet, water pump and associated plumbing, possibly a bypass valve if someone installed one). There is a removable panel just above the floor right where your left foot is located when standing at the sink. It might not look like it can open, but it does. Just pull it off; it's attached with velcro. You can also see a fair bit of the fresh water tank with a light and a mirror, or a small head and some flexibility. If the leak is not obvious, slip some paper towels into the areas under the pump and plumbing. Check later for signs of water. The drain could be ever so slightly open (or leaking?). A cracked drain pipe, maybe caused by the junk in that compartment pushing on it over time, could explain the water in the forward compartment.Rich

Fortunately the fix is easy, determine if it's the water pump and replace it. Since condensation only occurs when humid air meets a cold surface, and your water tank and drain pipe are generally at ambient temperature, it's unlikely that your problem is condensation.
