Wondered if anyone here has had their tanks cleaned by this company or one of their franchises?

In the end I guess you would have a really clean tank and gauges would work but not sure what the value is ultimately.

They charge $200 to clean both the gray and black tanks.

"Hydronics"?  I thought that this term meant a cooling or heating system where circulating water transports heat.... does their interesting application of this word mean that they "steam-clean" the tank?  Neither the "service pics" on their website not the FAQs are particularly informative.
I don't see the value of this service (particularly for 200 bucks!) *if* one has consistently followed good "dump and flush" practices; if not, then maybe a good hosing would make the rig owner feel more comfortable!?  ;-)

As ever, YMMV.

Since the tank will be "gunked up" again within a few weeks at most, I don't see the point.

I dunno Joan. I think it depends on the temperature. For me, a "good hosing" only makes me feel comfortable on a really hot day.

If one wanted this because of the gauges, I'd rather spend the $200.00 to replace them with See Level gauges.  Just my 2 cents.   YMMV

Good point! That would be a permanent solution, unlike this pressure-washing outfit.

Don't know about how valuable this service would be but I want in on it! Buy a $400 dollar, gas-powered pressure washer, add a spinner head to it and you are in business.
After the first three customers, it's all profit.
http://tinyurl.com/37rg5gh Who wants their tanks cleaned. $195 Yahoo special.
Whoops!, that's getting too commercial .
Well, there should be a little more to this. They would have to use some sort of vacuum system to suck up  all the ...uh, stuff instead of dumping it on the ground. That would be in violation of a few thousand laws I would think.
You would need a small vacuum truck to make this work and would be a great sideline for the guys who do campground pump-outs. They already have the most expensive piece of equipment.
I can see pressure washing being of use for RVs with poorly maintained holding tanks. I remember Jonna and Mimi's LD holding tanks freezing, then thawing, resulting in thick build up breaking off and coming out when they dumped the next time. Their build-up was caused by not using chemicals and the lack of flushing opportunities in their Mexico travels.
With regular flushing, buildup should be minimal. Most LDs will benefit with the installation of a hose-powered flusher. They are not too difficult to install and can really help.

Additives can be helpful in removing buildup. I use septic tank treatment in our tanks once or twice a years when the rig is going to be parked for a two weeks or more. I flush and fill both tanks with fresh water and add septic-tank treatment to each tank. It comes in liquid or powder form.
http://tinyurl.com/24ekdt9 The tanks sit for a week or two before being dumped and rinsed again.
The power flush might be useful for MB owners with the convoluted plumbing that has been known to plug.  Using a flexible 'magic wand' can be useful in preventing build-up in the pipes.

Last week, Mike Sylvester was finishing up several post-delivery installations for me, and one was the installation of power flush nozzles in both the gray and black tanks (like the short-lived Kodiak had). Since I'd fully used the tanks since delivery in late April and had used Sewer Solution with each emptying, nevertheless, for Mike's sake when drilling into the tanks, I wanted them to be spiffy-clean before he opened the holes. What I did was drop a Cascade Action Pac into freshly emptied tanks filled about half way with fresh water. Then on the drive out from Long Beach to Temecula, the back and forth sloshing got those babies spanking clean. Flushed again in the morning... and nary a trace of odor or "matter." Cost? probably a couple of cents per tank.

two further observations:
1) do *not* use the Cascade Action Pacs which say "Bleach added." Use only the regular ones, and they have "Dawn" added.
2) while for the black tank, you can throw one pac down the toilet, for the gray tank you have to place one at a sink drain hole and run water until the pac dissolves and runs down into the gray tank.
