Verizon's new "4G" LTE USB modem plan

Verizon has a new "4G" LTE USB modem plan with 5 GB/month at $50 plus taxes and fees and $80+ for 10 GB/month. And, it's $10+ per GB if you go over your quota.  The plans are here:

The LG VL600 modem or the Pantech UML290 modem is available for $250 or $150 with 2 year contract less $50 if you order on line.  Until I find out it would work with my Craddlepoint router, I wouldn't rush out to get one.
Besides, while available around Charlotte, NC, "4G" LTE service is not likely to be available when I'm traveling.

No Cradlepoint support yet. But I am sure they have a team on it.  Hopefully they won't have to wait until service is available

I don't think that your current Cradlepoint router will work with a 4G device (I could be wrong on this...best to contact someone like 3GStore to get the scoop).  However, I did receive an email from Cradlepoint yesterday that says they have a new battery-powered router, the PHS300, that's' compatible with 4G (and also 3G).  They may have others, too.

It's not quite that bad...
5 GB = 5,000 MBytes x 8 = 40000 Mbits. Divide that by roughly 5 Mbits/sec (if you are lucky) = 8000 seconds or 133.3 hours, assuming you can get 5 meg service solid.  Double that for 10 GB service.
Not adequate for very many software updates or movies, but for normal use not too bad.  Heck, I burned up 4 GB pulling down a map update for my Garm

That's $10 less than the 3G 5GB plan. It may make sense to get one, even if 4G is not available where you may be. You would still get 3G speed.
Our current modem works fine with Kyocera or Cradlepoint, no software, just plug it in. Wonder if this one will work the same??? Someone go get one and try it out. Don't they have a three day return policy?

Sounds right for 5 MBps... but its 133.3 minutes not hours. I was joking about when we could get 100 MB service!  Jack
