Power Steering

I saw a drip under the front of my '91 RB yesterday. When I followed it I found that it was coming from either the power steering hose or the pump. It's hard to tell. I checked the fluid and it was low. The pump is really hard to get to. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience in repairing  or replacing a power steering unit or hose on a Ford 460 LD? Cost if someone had it done? Lucas stop leak? Dale from Downey.

I have never changed a pump on a 460 but I can give a bit of advice. First, clean the whole area well with a spray cleaner such as 409 and a hose and nozzle.
When clean and dry, start the engine and start watching where oil comes from. It may take some time for enough to appear. Use a white rag to wipe the area once the red oil starts to appear to help locate the exact location the oil is leaking from.
You may find that hose(s) are leaking and not the pump.
I have never had much luck using 'stop leak' products. They contain chemicals that swell the oil seals temporarily and are not a permanent fix.
