Seems like a thermal cooker should be perfect for cooking rice but so far I have turned two batches into mush.  Has anyone successfully cooked rice in theirs? If so, how long? Thanks, Patti

Larry, Not Chris, but I can tell you that you can make coffee in a mud puddle if you are desperate enough.

Thick and gritty coffee, just the way I like it.

Patti, I make rice, cereal, soup or anything that I want to in my thermal cooker. I use 3 cups short grain brown rice and cover it with 1 inch of water. Before I pour water, I roast the rice(cleaned and rinsed) in the pot until the rice is dry. I bring the water to a boil and have the rice slow boil for at least 5 minutes.  Then it goes in cooker with towels around it because my cooker has 2 3.5L pots. I leave rice for a minimum of 1 1/2 hrs and up to 4 hours.
If you use white rice, follow the directions on package or recipe before putting in cooker. If the rice is overcooked, mushy are you boiling rice for more than 1 minute? How long are you keeping rice in cooker? Probably an hour is long enough. Hope this helps.
