To Chessiecat;  I'm pretty sure that the F chassis is a pickup truck.  F150 1/2 ton, F250 3/4 ton etc. The 'E' in 350 and 450 refers to the  E_conoline cut away van chassis that make up most class 'C' motorhomes. Past available van chassis from Dodge and Chevrolet were used also, and newer Chevy chassis are also available. (but not the Kodiak anymore) My E350 chassis, a 99 has a V10 and the V10 emblem on the front fenders, next to the E350. The E450, also has the V10 insignia on the front fenders next to the E450 chassis designator. The E450 chassis is sometimes referred to  as the 'widebody' and is six inches wider. It would have a little  bit more room in the engine compartment. Before the V10 became available in  1997 (about 440 CID), the engine was a V8 460 CID. The 460 and V10's can  easily pull a towed.
The older Dodges had 413, 360 and 454 CID engines. The older Chevrolets had a 350 CID engine which I think causes most of the confusion with the 350 chassis. Motorhomes on that chassis had more difficulty towing other vehicles  depending on the weight of the towed and weight of the motorhome. Hope this  cleared things up a little. Last year while trading up in the LD world, we briefly had an E-350 ('02 FL) and an E-450 ('05 RB) parked beside each other in our driveway.  The cabs were identical in width and the engine compartments were identical.  I believe the "widebody" refers to the wider stance of the rear wheels, which in turn allows for a wide coach body.

They are both "widebodies".  The E-350 has a V-8 and until last year, was used for all 23 or 24 foot Lazy Dazes.

--- Lazy Daze built the 23.5' on the E450 V-10 with the 14050 gvwr beginning with the 2003 model year; that is the reason I waited until that time to order my 23.5' TK.
Until the 2008 or 2009 (I *think*) model year, the E450 was the engine/chassis choice for the 23.5'.  However, within the last year, the Ford cutaway motorhome chassis with the 155" wheelbase (which is what LD uses for the 24') has come *stock* with a 5.4L V-8 and a 14050 gvwr.  One can currently *order* a 24' with the V-10 and a 14500 gvwr; if I were ordering a new 24', the V-10, even with the additional cost, would be an automatic choice!  But, as ever, YMMV!  ;-)

That's not correct.  I'm not exactly sure when the 23.5' LDs changed from the E350 chassis to the E450 chassis, but our 2004 23.5' TK was on an E450 chassis and had the V-10.  I believe the V-8 being standard on the shorter LDs is a recent development...2009? 2010?...but the V-10 is an option.
