New Mexico State Parks Pocket Guide May 09, 2010, 03:31:32 pm Yahoo Message Number: 112433For a long time I've wanted to do a pocket guide to New Mexico's state parks, suitable for iPhone/iPod Touch and other handheld devices. I finally got around to working on it last week, and last night I finished and uploaded it:http://www.andybaird.com/nmsp/> It's a "web app," meaning that an internet connection is required to use it. But you can add it to your home screen and use it just like a regular app. And by the way, you don't have to have an iPhone/iPod Touch to use it--any web browser can access that URL, although the app is optimized for a small screen. This app doesn't try to provide exhaustive information about each parks; rather, it's meant to be used as a quick reference. (If you want more details, there are links to the NM State Parks Division pages for all the parks.) I figured the situations in which you'd use this app were ones like these:1. You want to find a park that's warmer or cooler. Solution: tap to sort by elevation.2. You want to find a park that's not a long drive from the one you're in now. Solution: go to the info page for that park, which lists the three nearest parks.3. You want to find a park in a specific area, or near a particular city. Solution: go to the map and tap on the name of any park.I hope you'll find this little app useful. Suggestions are of course welcome. :-)Andy Baird http://www.andybaird.com/travels/

Where to store a second sewer hose explained Reply #2 – May 09, 2010, 04:10:34 pm Yahoo Message Number: 112435About two months ago I asked about a second sewer hose container. I did not want to take up precious bin space for a second hose and besides who wants to store a sewer hose in a bin! Bumper and others gave me some good leads for what to buy and where to install it. I got some perf-pipe and got under the rig to install it. That's when I had a Eureka moment. There is space between the gray tank and the floor for several hoses. I put the ends of the hose together to keep rodents and birds out and secured it with a bungee cord. It's out of the way and will stay put. Yes, I will have to get on my back to access it, but we will only use that hose maybe once or twice a year. This is on a MB. It may not be an option on other floor plans. Life's tough......it's even tougher if you're stupid John Wayne
Re: New Mexico State Parks Pocket Guide Reply #3 – May 09, 2010, 05:38:34 pm Yahoo Message Number: 112436Thanks Andy for the NM information. As always, terrific information for the RVer. I might add that in Navajo Lakes State Park, the San Juan river has some of the best trophy trout fishing (flyfishing) in the nation. Easy access from Cottonwood CG.Best, David

E.g., Aguirre Springs is very nice, cheap, and offers great views, flowers, and trail access near Las Cruces.Steve
