Non slip stick on surface
Yahoo Message Number: 112419
I have a '91 27.5 RB. The non slip (black), stick on surface on both cab doorways is worn out. Does anyone know where I can buy sheets of this material. I have only been able to find the 3M 4". I need about 14" wide. They probably have it at the mother ship but not for my coach. Either way I would have to cut it.

Dale, I just replaced the non-slip surface tape on my '94 26.5 RB with a product from "AntiSlipTapeShop.com". It looks and feels identical to the original. Order the "Black Coarse Non Slip Tape Cut Pieces". One 42"x42" sheet was enough to do both running-boards and the coach entry step. $25.90 + shipping. It is easy to apply. Just peel and stick. Of course surface prep is key. I used the wife's hair dryer and a scraper to remove the old surface tape. There was a sticky residue remaining which must also be removed. Running-boards on the '94 are fiberglass, not sure about the '91. It's easy to scrape the paint off if you're not careful. Not noticeable under the new tape of course. I also ordered the edge sealer but don't think it's necessary. It's rather tedious labor but worth it. Fresh, clean and functional.

In my '88, I removed all of the old material, using a putty knife to get the edges up and then peeling it off.  I then "replaced" the non-skid by buying a pint can of truck-bed liner at WalMart and painted it on.  It looks better than the old stuff, works just as well if not better, and I can re-touch if needed.  The can was ~$10 and I painted it on with some cheap throw-away brushes.  On mine there was also a patch of non-skid by the roof ladder, so I removed what was left and repainted there as well.

Regards, Adam

Dale,
I have the same problem and I'm going to a skateboard shop to check out the tape used to cover the deck of the board.. Our son used to buy similar tape when he was a teen and an avid enough skater to have built a giant ramp in our yard. Oh, the nightmares that caused ;-). He's semi normal now and swears his son will never do the things he did. Right! The tape comes in lots of colors and held up under extreme conditions. Some of the pieces were large enough to cover the steps. Hmmmm... would lime green clash with red??

Karen, Good idea! Ididn't think of that. I was thinking swimming pool supply, though. Ya' know, for diving boards? Thanks & be well, Dale.
